Sensitive High Frequency AC Susceptometry in Magnetic Nanoparticle Applications
نویسندگان
چکیده
We report on the development of a sensitive high frequency susceptometer capable of measuring in the frequency range from 25 kHz up to 10 MHz with a volume susceptibility sensitivity of 3.5×10 at 100 kHz corresponding to about 0.3 % of the measured AC susceptibility. In combination with the previous reported DynoMag system capable of measuring dynamic magnetic properties in the range from 1 Hz to 200 kHz we are thus able to measure dynamic magnetic properties between 1 Hz to 10 MHz with high magnetic sensitivity. We will show AC susceptometry applications and results within the fields of magnetic hyperthermia and dynamic magnetic characterization of magnetic nanoparticle system with different particle sizes and magnetic properties.

Magnetic hyperthermia uses AC stimulation of magnetic nanoparticles to generate heat for cancer cell destruction. Whilst nanoparticles produced inside magnetotactic bacteria have shown amongst the highest reported heating to date, these particles are magnetically blocked so that strong heating occurs only for mobile particles, unless magnetic field parameters are far outside clinical limits. متن کاملMagnetic Resonance Susceptometry: Principles and Applications in Biomedicine
Introduction. Accurate measurement of magnetic susceptibility of nominally non-magnetic medium requires strong applied magnetic field combined with sensitive detection. Such measurements traditionally utilized superconducting sensors in a dedicated cryogenic setup. Modern high-field MRI provides an ideal combination of strong magnetizing field and sensitive measurement readily applicable to bio...

MR susceptometry-based blood oximetry relies on phase mapping to measure the difference in magnetic susceptibility between intravascular blood and surrounding tissue. The main source of error in MR susceptometry is the static field inhomogeneity caused by an interface between air and tissue or between adjacent tissue types. High-pass filtering has previously been used in conjunction with shimmi...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Blood Flow Mixed with Magnetic Nanoparticles under the Influence of AC and DC Magnetic Field
Nanoparticles combined with magnetic fields are one of the most important research areas in the field of biomedical engineering. Direct Current (DC) magnetic and Alternative Current (AC) magnetic fields are often used for controlling nanoparticles. It is also used for hyperthermia treatment. The purpose of the current study is to investigate the effect of DC and AC magnetic field on nanoparticl...
متن کاملAttomolar Zika virus oligonucleotide detection based on loop-mediated isothermal amplification and AC susceptometry.
Because of the serological cross-reactivity among the flaviviruses, molecular detection methods, such as reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), play an important role in the recent Zika outbreak. However, due to the limited sensitivity, the detection window of RT-PCR for Zika viremia is only about one week after symptom onset. By combining loop-mediated isothermal amplificati...
